“Between our elders and children, Africa Centre recognizes that the youth are often forgotten. For this reason, the youth of the Africa Centre created a collective in September 2013 previously referred to as the Youth Empowerment Group, YEG.
After two years of youth-led consultations with African and Caribbean youth ranging from high school to post-secondary students across Edmonton, our collective presented TheComeUp-Youth Empowerment Initiative.
As a subset of our greater organization, the Africa Centre, we share core values and principles and presents itself as a hub of African and Caribbean youth of our greater communities.
To create opportunities for the access and full participation of members of the African community in all aspects of society including economic, social, cultural and educational endeavors and contribute to the holistic development and wellness of the individual, family and community.”
